
Senators Claim Forward Marek Svatos off Waivers from Nashville

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 24, 2011) - Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the club has claimed forward Marek Svatos off waivers from the Nashville Predators.
A native of Kosice, Slovakia, Svatos began the 2010-11 season with Avangard Omsk of Russia's Kontinental Hockey League, where he recorded eight points (three goals, five assists) and 14 penalty minutes in 19 games. Svatos returned to the NHL when he was claimed by Nashville from the St. Louis Blues on Dec. 29. In nine games with the Predators this season, he registered three points (one goal, two assists) and two penalty minutes. He did not see any playing time with the Blues.
Prior to this season, Svatos, 28, had played each of his 316 career games with the Colorado Avalanche, tallying 164 points (96 goals, 68 assists) and 207 penalty minutes. He was originally selected by the Avalanche in the seventh round (227th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
The Senators return to action on Friday when they visit the Buffalo Sabres at 7:30 p.m.
