May 20, 2005 - Frontier League (FL)
Richmond Roosters News Release
The year 2005 is the Chinese year of the Rooster â and the Richmond Roosters, members of the Frontier League, will honor all those born in Rooster years with free admission for the 2005 season.
In making the announcement today, Deanna Beaman, VP/GM of the ball club said, "It's not only a way to say happy birthday, but a great way to honor our Asian American friends and neighbors."
Rooster Years are tenth in the cycle following the Monkey Years, and recur every twelfth year.
Rooster Years are: 1909, 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993 and 2005 â those born in those years -- with valid proof â will be admitted free for the 2005 season.
"That's regardless if that individual is Asian American or not," Beaman said.
Famous people born in the Year of the Rooster are: Michael Aspel, Yoko Ono, Rod Stewart, Mia Farrow and Eric Clapton.
According to Chinese law, Roosters are very loyal individuals. They do not like dishonesty or mockery of any sort. They are blunt, up front and honest people and expect those around them to be the same. Roosters are happiest when they are surrounded by others, at a party or just a social gathering.
Roosters do have a tendency to brag about themselves and their achievements and demand an attentive audience when doing so.
The Richmond Roosters play an exhibition game against the Florence Freedom at Champion Window Field in Florence, KY this Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. (EDT) before opening their 2005 season, Wednesday, May 25th at Don McBride Stadium, also against the Freedom, at 6:35 p.m. (CST).
