PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Thorns FC have signed midfielder Olivia Moultrie to a three-year contract with an option, it was announced today. Portland acquired the rights to Moultrie from OL Reign, who held her rights as the first team on the NWSL Discovery Priority list, in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft.

"We are pleased to have Olivia join our team," said Gavin Wilkinson, Thorns FC general manager and president of soccer. "She has been part of this club since early 2019 and there have been many Thorns staff fully invested in her development."

Moultrie, 15, began training with Thorns FC during the 2019 season and has featured in preseason competition in each of the last three seasons. In 2018-19, Moultrie played with the Thorns FC Academy U-16s team, scoring nine goals in 15 competitive matches. The following season, Moultrie appeared in matches with Portland's U-18s team, scoring eight goals in eight matches. During the 2017-18 Academy season, Moultrie played for Beach Futbol Club with the U-15s, scoring 18 goals in 27 matches.

"This step is very important for Olivia," said Thorns FC head coach Mark Parsons. "For this club to have the commitment and vision to sign a young, talented player that we really believe in is immense. Olivia has continued to grow and push forward throughout her time here and has taken every challenge and turned it into an opportunity."

At the U.S. youth national team level, Moultrie was most recently in camp with the U-17 Women's National Team in February 2020 as part of a 24-player roster for training camp. She made her first two appearances with the U-17s during the training camp, playing in two matches against England. Moultrie made seven appearances, scoring three goals with the U.S. U-15 Girls' National Team. In 2018, Moultrie helped guide the United States to the Concacaf U-15 Girls' Championship. In the tournament, Moultrie played in five matches (three starts), recording three goals and one assist.
