TAMPA, Fla. - A scoreless game moved into the ninth and the Tampa Tarpons prevailed with a walk-off RBI single by Dom Thompson-Williams in a 1-0 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Tampa (19-17, 54-52) takes three-of-four from Palm Beach (16-20, 55-45) and goes 5-2 on the seven-game home stand.

RHP Nick Green and RHP Jesus Cruz traded zeroes throughout the first seven frames.

Green stranded a two-out double in the first and two more base runners in each of the next two innings before the Cardinals loaded the bases with one out in the fourth. Green escaped by getting Chase Pinder to ground into a 5-4-3 double play.

A double play in the second allowed Cruz to face the minimum entering the third. Ben Ruta lined a one-out single and, one out later, tried to score when Estevan Florial pulled a double into the right field corner. Second baseman Irving Lopez relayed a throw to the plate and Ruta was tagged out by catcher Jose Godoy.

Green retired the final 10 batters he faced. The 23-year-old scattered four hits, two walks and on hit-batter over seven scoreless frames, striking out three on 95 pitches (60 strikes), matching his season-high in innings pitched. Green has now logged a quality start in 11 of his 18 starts this season.

Cruz held the Tarpons to four hits and one walk over a career-high seven shutout innings, tallying eight strikeouts on 89 pitches (56 strikes).

RHP Matt Frawley (W, 1-5) worked around an error in the eighth and stranded a two-out single in the ninth in a pair of scoreless innings in relief of Green.

LHP John Kilichowski (L, 1-2) worked a scoreless eighth, but Tampa put the leadoff man aboard in the ninth when Kellin Deglan reached on a hit-by-pitch. Florial dropped a bunt down first and beat the play for a hit. An errant throw by Lopez allowed Deglan to take third. Florial then took second on an error by Kilichowski.

Palm Beach intentionally walked Diego Castillo and brought the infield in with the bases loaded and no outs. Thompson-Williams then grounded one up the middle and into center, scoring Deglan for the win.

Tampa leads the Florida State League with 11 shutout wins. Florial (2-for-3, 2B, BB) reached base three times. Thompson-Williams (1-for-4, RBI) has hit safely in five-straight games.

Following a league-wide off day on Monday, the Tarpons will play three games against the Clearwater Threshers at Spectrum Field. RHP Garrett Whitlock (4-2, 2.22) is scheduled to face RHP Mauricio Llovera ((3-7, 4.54) in the series-opener on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Live play-by-play audio will be available on the Tampa Tarpons Baseball Network.

The Tarpons return home to open a weekend series with the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Friday at 6:30 p.m. On "Thirsty Fish Fryday," fans can enjoy seafood specials all night long, including: $7 popcorn shrimp combo, $8 buffalo popcorn shrimp combo and $9 beer battered fish.
