DAYTONA, Fla. - Ernie De La Trinidad homered and drove in three, and Alex Kirilloff recorded another multi-hit game, as the Fort Myers Miracle defeated the Daytona Tortugas, 8-6, on Sunday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
Trailing 6-4 in the seventh, Kirilloff closed the gap to one with a run scoring single. Two batters later, the Miracle tied the score on a Travis Blankenhorn double, before Kirilloff scored on a wild pitch to give Fort Myers a 7-6 lead. Royce Lewis capped off the night's scoring with an RBI single in the eighth.
De La Trinidad's blast in the second inning gave the Miracle a 3-1 lead. Blankenhorn extended the lead to 4-1 an inning later with a triple.
Daytona scored a run in the fourth and four more runs in the fifth to take a 6-4 lead. Bruce Yari, Taylor Trammell, and Alfredo Rodriguez all drove in runs in the four-run frame.
Kirilloff extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a double in the third. Blankenhorn and Lewis each collected two hits while De La Trinidad went 3-4 with a walk.
Bryan Sammons earned a no decision after allowing five runs (four earned) in four innings of work. The left-hander walked a career high five batters. After Colton Davis allowed a run in an inning of work, Clark Beeker (4-6) entered and tossed four scoreless innings to earn the win. The right-hander allowed just one hit.
Daytona starter Andrew Jordan also collected a no decision after allowing four runs (one earned) across four innings of work. Four Daytona relievers then combined to allow four runs in five innings of relief. Ty Boyles (3-8) suffered the loss after allowing a run in one inning of work.
Fort Myers has won four consecutive series and after an off day on Monday, begins a three game series at Hammond Stadium on Tuesday night against the Jupiter Hammerheads, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Miami Marlins.
