
Thompson Strikes out Seven Leading the Blue Crabs to Victory

(Waldorf, MD) ---RHP Daryl Thompson came into tonight's outing having not won a start since August 2nd, and tonight Thompson threw seven innings, striking out seven and not allowing a run to lead the Blue Crabs to the 7-4 victory.
Southern once again scored first in the bottom of the third. Fred Lewis started the rally with a walk, followed by an Antone DeJesus sacrifice bunt to put a runner in scoring position. Zach Wilson lashed a singled to center to score Lewis to make it 1-0. After a Jovan Rosa single, Bryant Nelson walked to load the bases. The next hitter Jamar Walton doubled into right field to score Wilson and Rosa to make it 3-0. Casey Frawley then came to the plate and smoked a single back up the middle into center to score Nelson to make it 4-0.
Jamar Walton then lifted a sacrifice fly to center to score Wilson to make it 5-0. In the bottom of the sixth, Keith Castillo started the bottom of the frame with a double. Two batter later, Antone DeJesus tripled down the right field line to score Castillo. A batter later, Zach Wilson singled to score DeJesus to make it 7-0.
RHP Chris Bodishbaugh came out of the bullpen for a relief appearance in the top of the eighth. With one out Mike McDade singled. Two batter later Lancaster began to break through offensively. Brian Cavazos-Galvez singled, followed by a double off the bat of Charlie Cutler after a seven pitch at bat to score McDade, and Cavazos-Galvez to make it 7-2. With two outs, Lance Zawadzki roped a double to left center to score Cutler. The hits parade continued with an Anderson Felix double to left field, allowing Zawadzki to score to make it 7-4. RHP Orlando Santos came out of the bullpen, and induced a groundball out of Kajimoto to end the rally.
RHP Cody Eppley worked a 1-2-3 ninth to pick up his third save of the season to send the Blue Crabs to victory. Southern Maryland was out-hit 12-10, but received three RBIs from Jamar Walton, while Zach Wilson went 3-4 with two RBIs. With the win, the Blie Crabs ended a three game losing streak.
Southern Maryland and Lancaster will play the rubber matchup of the three game series tomorrow afternoon. The first pitch is set for 2:05 P.M. RHP Joe Gardner (0-0, 0.00) will start for Lancaster, while RHP Brian Baker (5-9, 5.13) will take the hill for Southern Maryland.
