Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The 2013 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Tuesday that the team has activated offensive lineman Thomas Claiborne from inactive reserve.

The 25-year-old Claiborne (6'3", 340) returns to the Sharks' lineup after being placed on inactive reserve on July 17. After being inactive for the first seven games of the season, Claiborne started nine consecutive games along the offensive line between Week 8 and Week 17. Claiborne has contributed at multiple positions, making four starts at fullback and five at center.

Claiborne is in his second AFL season, as he logged nine starts in seven total appearances with the Milwaukee Mustangs in 2012. He began his professional football career by signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent prior to the 2011 NFL season, but was waived by the team in training camp. He spent his college career at Boston College, where he was a mainstay along the Eagles' offensive line, appearing in 40 games with 34 starts during his time at the school. Claiborne is a native of Randolph, Massachusetts.

The Sharks also announced Tuesday that Mac linebacker Aaron Robbins has been placed on inactive reserve. Following the day's transactions, the Jacksonville roster remains at the AFL maximum of 24 active players.
