Arkansas Diamonds News Release

(North Little Rock, AR) - The Arkansas Twisters got a boost going into spring camp when wide receiver/defensive back Pierre Thomas was assigned to the team by the arenafootball2 league office.

Thomas is considered to be one of the most versatile players in the af2 because he can play so many different positions. He was used primarily as a defensive back and wide receiver, but saw time at full back during goal line stands and returned kicks.

The former Missouri Western University standout was assigned to the Twisters mid year of last season. He played in nine games and totaled over 50 tackles, which was third best on the team in '06. Thomas' 51.5 tackles during that span was among the most in the entire af2. He also added five interceptions and a safety in helping Arkansas reach the National Conference finals.

Offensively, Thomas was third on the team in rushing with four attempts for 25 yards, averaging 6.2 yards per play. His 20 yard rush in a game was second longest run of the '06 season. Thomas also caught 20 passes for 247 yards and six touchdowns. He fielded four kick returns for 67 yards.

The Twisters begin spring camp on March 8th with the season opener on the road on March 31st. Season tickets are on sale now as low as $8 a game. Fans can call 975-KICK or log onto www.arkansastwisters.com to order tickets.
