
Former Dorado Bell signs with AFL Dallas

Hidalgo, Texas --- Former Rio Grande Valley Dorados kicker Dustin Bell has signed with the Dallas Desperados of the Arena Football League.
Bell was a member of the 2006 Dorados squad and set a franchise record with a 52-yard field goal kick at Arkansas on June 17, 2006. Bell went 7-for-23 on field goal attempts last season. Of those 23, 14 attempts were from 40 yards out or more. Besides the 52-yard field goal, Bell also kicked a successful a 47-yard field goal at Bakersfield on May 13, 2006. The second-year pro played college ball at the University of Houston and was a three time semi-finalist for the Lou Groza Award presented annually to the nation's top college football place-kicker.
Bell becomes the second Dorados kicker to move on to the Arena League. Eric Houle played last season with Las Vegas and has recently signed with New Orleans for the 2007 season.
TRY OUT FOR THE DORADOS THIS SUNDAY
The Dorados will hold their local tryout camp this Sunday, March 4, at PSJA Stadium from 2-6 p.m. Players will participate in various drills in addition to being timed in the 40 and short shuttle. There will also be a broad jump measurement. Players should dress appropriately for the tryout, including proper footwear for PSJA's field turf; Dorados T-shirts will be provided. The $40 pre-registration fee ($50 day-of, cash only day-of) will cover the facility fee.

The Dorados kick off 2007 on the road at Corpus Christi on April 7, and open up the home half of the season vs. Laredo on April 14. Games at Obra Homes Field inside Dodge Arena begin at 7:30 p.m.
