Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
The PawSox - who will begin the 2008 International League Playoffs this coming Wednesday night against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (most likely at McCoy Stadium) - secured their first playoff berth in five years last Saturday night. The Sox will be participating in the post-season for the first time since 2003. In five days, the PawSox and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees will be readying to start a historic playoff series against each other that will be the first between the Red Sox and Yankees Triple-A affiliates since the 1991 Governors' Cup Finals when Pawtucket was swept in 3-games by the Columbus Clippers (then the Yankees' affiliate). Now, 17 years later the post-season rivalry will resume on Wednesday in the city that wins the wild card.
The Pawtucket Red Sox are pleased to announce that tickets for all possible 2008 PawSox playoff games at McCoy Stadium are now on sale at the Box Office at McCoy. Fans can also charge tickets with any major credit card by calling the PawSox at (401) 724-7300.
Tickets for the 2008 Governors' Cup Semi-Finals and Governors' Cup Finals will be priced the same as regular-season tickets. Box Seats are $10.00 apiece while General Admission are $6.00 for Adults and $4.00 for Children (aged 12 & under) & Senior Citizens.
The 2008 International League Playoffs (all series are best 3 out of 5) will begin on September 3rd. If the PawSox finish the season in 1st-place in the IL North they would host Games 3, 4, and 5 of the first round of the playoffs at McCoy on September 5 at 7:05 pm, September 6 at 6:05 pm, and September 7 at 5:05 pm (the final two games if necessary). If the PawSox finish as the IL wild card they would host Games 1 & 2 of the first round of the playoffs on September 3 at 7:05 pm and September 4 at 7:05 pm at McCoy.
If Pawtucket were to win that series, they would then be home at McCoy for Games 1 & 2 of the Governors' Cup Finals on September 9 & 10 both at 7:05 pm.
And if the PawSox win the Governors' Cup they would take on the Pacific Coast League champion in the Bricktown Showdown which is the Triple-A Championship Game to be held on September 16 in Oklahoma City, OK.
When the PawSox are playing at home the Box Office at McCoy is open Monday - Sunday from 9:00 am until the end of the game. When the club is on the road the Box Office is open Monday - Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.
