Mississippi RiverKings News Release

Southaven, Miss - The Mississippi RiverKings won their fourth game in a row as they knocked off the Huntsville Havoc 4-3 at the Landers Center on Friday night.

Led by the offensive presence of newcomers Matt Whitehead and Chev Wilson, the RiverKings avenged their overtime loss to the Havoc from two weeks ago in a thriller at home. David Wilson collected his third win in his last four starts.

The RiverKings had to come from behind right off the bat. Glenn Detulleo found Dennis Sicard posted in the slot and Sicard tipped in the pass over David Wilson to give the Havoc an early 1-0 lead.

The back and forth game began in the second period. Mike Tuomi tied the game at one as he took Chev Wilson's outlet pass and beat Kevin Beech five-hole on a breakaway for his 13th goal of the season.

Ten minutes later, Mike MacDonald struck for the Havoc. He knocked in his eighth goal of the season from Ray Ortiz and Justin Fox to give the Havoc the lead again heading into the third period.

But the RiverKings came out with energy in the third. Matt Whitehead scored his first goal as a RiverKing as Kyle Lundale's shot rebounded off the pad of Beech directly onto his stick and he slid the puck through the legs of the Huntsville netminder to tie the game at two just 54 seconds into the final frame.

Seven minutes later, Whitehead's diving effort kept the RiverKings in the offensive zone. That play led to Chev Wilson finding an open Kyle Lundale at the point who zipped a shot past an out of position Kevin Beech to give the RiverKings a 3-2 lead. Deven Stillar added the insuarance marker at the 15:20 mark as he buried Ken Selby's pass past Beech to put the 'Kings up by two.

Huntsville did not go away. With just under three minutes left to go in regulation, Scott Duncan took a shot off a faceoff and Sicard deflected it in the net for his second goal of the game to cut the lead to one. But the RiverKings would hold off the Huntsville attack as Glenn Detulleo took a charging penalty with 48 second left to go in regulation that took all the momentum out of the Huntsville team and the RiverKings walked away with their 11th win of the season.

David Wilson (8-4-2) took the win as he stopped 21 of 24 shots against. Kevin Beech fell to 6-5-1 on the season as he turned away 21 of 25.
