Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Recap of the Week

The Warriors began this past weekend's three-in-three with a win on Friday night, but then fell on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Greenville embarked on a three-week road trip that began in Evansville, Indiana on Friday night. Both teams struggled to find the back of the net during the course of the game. The scoreless drought was snapped by Evansville when the Icemen potted a goal in the early stages of the third period. With 20 seconds left in regulation, Mike Marcou fired a slap shot towards the net that was deflected for the game-tying goal by Jordie Johnston. The game remained knotted at 1-1 after the five-minute overtime period and headed to a shootout. Josh Nicholls and Andrew Rowe scored for the Warriors in the shootout and Jason Missiaen stopped all four of the Evansville shooters he faced to secure the 2-1 win.

Saturday was a different story for the Road Warriors. Evansville stormed out of the gate with three goals in the first 7:30. The IceMen added two more in the second period before Greenville could strike. Mike Marcou tallied a goal for the Road Warriors to bring the score a 5-1 deficit heading into the third period. Evansville would score once more in the third to cap a 6-1 win. Jeff Malcolm took the loss in net with 22 saves.

The Road Warriors started quickly on Sunday night in Toledo with two goals in the first ten minutes of the game. The first goal was scored by Andrew Rowe who received a pass from Michael St. Croix in the slot. Mike Marcou scored the second goal on the power play for his sixth of the year. Toledo responded with two goals to close out the first period, tying the game at 2-2. The Road Warriors recorded 33 penalty minutes in the second period, including a game ejection assessed to Sam Noreau, who left the bench during an altercation. Toledo took advantage on the power play and gained a 3-2 lead moving into the third period. The Walleye scored once more in the third to knock off the Road Warriors by a 4-2 score. Jason Missiaen made 24 saves in the loss.
