Mississippi RiverKings News Release
The elections are over and the votes are in - that is, votes for the 2011-2012 Player Awards as voted by the RiverKings fan base.
Unlike the primaries, the names won't be revealed until Friday night's 7:05 p.m. game versus the Augusta RiverHawks at the Landers Center. Eager fans will need to come early to view the presentation by the RiverKings Fan Club, which will take place on the ice at 6:40 p.m. prior to the game.
This year's awards include Best Offense, Best Defense, Rookie of the Year, Fan Favorite, and the Noah Costa Memorial M.V.P.
Other activities on tap by the team include presentation of the first annual "Teen Star" award and special recognition of Mark "Brick Wall" Richards, former RiverKings goalie during the team's first two championships and RiverKings head coach for two years, who now serves as president of the August RiverHawks hockey team. The RiverKings have selected The Baddour Center as the game-night M.V.P. Nonprofit Organization, and "Encore," an ensemble of singers from "The Miracles," The Baddour Center's traveling choir, will sing the anthem at the RiverKings game.
Don't miss the RiverKings pre-game Warm-Up on Friday at the Fillin Station Grille from 4:30-6 p.m. and Official Post-Game Party at T.G.I. Friday's following the match-up, where fans can mingle with all their favorite players.
