'Kings Get Revenge; Beat Louisiana 4-3

Lafayette, LA - The Mississippi RiverKings avenged their Saturday night loss to the IceGators in a 4-3 overtime win on Tuesday night.

The RiverKings got on the board first as Justin MacDonald picked up his second goal as a 'King after he picked up Nick Vandenbeld's rebound and put the puck over Jeff Rose to put the visitors up one early.

Louisiana answered back with a pair of goals in the second. Tyler Lyon converted on a shot from the high slot over Scott Darling to tie the game at one at the 11:07 mark of the second period. Robert Short tallied the second marker on another shot from the slot beating Darling five-hole to put Louisiana up by one.

With the RiverKings on a 5-3, Darrell Stoddard notched the equalizer on a one-timer from the point with 2:02 left in the second period. Kyle Lundale picked up the assist.

But with the RiverKigns shorthanded, Shawn McNeil picked up a rebound behind the 'Kings defense and converted on his opportunity with just seven seconds left in the second period to put Louisiana back up one.

The 'Kings trailed until the 14:35 mark when a misfired clearing attemped in the Louisiana zone ended up on the stick of Mark Magnowski who found Matt Whitehead in front who beat Rose to tie the game at three.

In overtime, the two teams exchanged chances, but it was Chev Wilson who netted the game winner on a quick snap shot past the blocker of the 'Gators' netminder to give the 'Kings a 4-3 win.

David Wilson picked up the win in relief of Scott Darling, improving to 13-8-2 on the season. Jeff Rose picked up his first loss as a memeber of the IceGators as he stopped 19 of 23 shots against.

The RiverKings take to the ice for the final time at the Landers Center in the regular season as they square off against the Augusta Riverhawks on Friday, March 16 at 7:05. After the game, the team will auction off their Coors Light warm-up jerseys. The game will broadcast live on Radio Memphis and the America One television network.
