Moncton Wildcats News Release
The Moncton Wildcats have signed 17 year old Free Agent Marcus Watson today. Watson played this year for the San Jose Jr. Sharks of the California Midget AAA League.
Wildcats acquire Barberio and Goyens
The Moncton Wildcats were active during the last day of the trading period and acquired 16 year old defenseman Mark Barberio and a 1st round draft pick from Cape Breton for defenseman Luc Bourdon. The Wildcats also traded their 4th and 6th round picks in 2008 to Rimouski for defenseman Nicholas Goyens.
Mark Barberio is rated as one of the best 16 year old defenseman in the QMJHL and has been very impressive so far this season recording 2 goals and 8 assists in 41 games with the Screaming Eagles. Mark is a great addition and will have a great impact on the team.
Nicholas Goyens, 6'03' and 190 lbs, will add some size to the Wildcats roster. Nicholas is also having a good season recording 15 assists in 39 games with the Océanic. The 18 year old defenseman played last year for Rimouski in the QMJHL and now has a chance to defend the President Cup title with the Moncton Wildcats.
The Val-d'Or Foreurs sent winger Maxime Lincourt (87-05-05) to the Moncton Wildcats for their fifth round pick in 2007 and their third round pick in 2008.
The Moncton Wildcats have signed 18 years old free agent Joseph Tolles. The 6'00 foot and 180 lbs defenseman played this season for the Powell River Kings in the BCHL accumulating 4 goals, 17 assists for 21 points in 26 games.
