Game Highlights
Quarter 1: Highlanders 16, Five 23
The Highlanders started their second road trip to Ontario with point guard Charles Strowbridge replacing Justin Taylor on the roster. Cape Breton and Sudbury started the game trading baskets. Sudbury slowly grew a lead of 9 with 2 minutes remaining in the quarter. Missed shots from the Highlanders kept them from catching up and the quarter ended with Cape Breton down 7.
Quarter 2: Highlanders 45, Five 51
Sudbury quickly increased the lead to 11, but a pair of steals and baskets from Bruce Massey brought the Highlanders within 6. The Highlanders continued to miss shots, allowing Sudbury to increase the lead to 12. Massey started making shots near the end of the quarter, including a steal and three free throws with no time on the clock, to cut the Sudbury lead to 6. Massey had 14 points in the quarter after being scoreless in the first.
Quarter 3: Highlanders 68, Five 81
Sudbury started the second half with a 3, and then Massey answered with a layup. The Highlanders continued to struggle on offense, including missing free throws. Sudbury maintained the lead throughout the quarter ending it up 13.
Quarter 4: Highlanders 99, Five 109
Sudbury hit shots from the field while the Highlanders continued poor shooting from the field at 35% and only 64% from the free-throw line. Halfway into the final quarter, a Sudbury lead of 21 points appeared to put the game out of reach. But, with both teams resting their starters, the Highlanders made one last push in the final minutes, cutting the lead to 9 and forcing Sudbury to sub in its starters to hold on for the win.
