CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. -- The Halifax Hurricanes blew into Charlottetown and blew out the Island Storm on Saturday night at the Eastlink Centre in a commanding 101-83 victory.

Halifax led end-to-end in the one-sided contest, leading by as much as 36 points.

Halifax got out running early against the Storm, forcing turnovers to build their lead.

As a team, the Hurricanes shot 48.1 per cent from the floor and better than 50 percent in the first half, while hitting 10-27 from three. Down low the Hurricanes dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Storm 62-48 and scoring 19 second-chance points.

The Hurricanes defence factored heavily in the win. The Storm were limited to 29.5 per cent shooting and just 17.4 per cent from three.

Fueled by 30 team assists, including seven from Cliff Clinkscales and six from Tyler Thornton, every Hurricane scored in the win Mike Poole led the Halifax team with 15 points to go with five assists and two steals. Chadrack Lufile muscled in 14 points down low, while grabbing eight rebounds and blocking two shots.

Terry Thomas, Joel Kindred and Meshack Lufile each scored 11.

No Hurricane starter played more than 24 minutes, Saturday, getting some lucky rest ahead of a second game less than 24 hours later.

On Sunday they will return home to the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax to face the St. John's Edge at 2 p.m. Get tickets for that game at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office or online.
