Halifax, (NS) - The Halifax Hurricanes, presented by Eastlink, faced off against the Sudbury Five Thursday night at the Scotiabank Centre in Downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Hurricanes used a combination of efficient shooting and fast tempo play to come away with their third straight win.

The Five came out firing on all cylinders to start the game, hitting six of their first nine three pointers on route to a 39-point first quarter. In the second quarter, the Five continued to rely on their sharpshooting, building a 16-point lead over the Canes at one point. However, Halifax was able to ride a wave of momentum and briefly pull ahead of the Five before ending the high-scoring first half with a score of 70-69 in favor of the Five.

Halifax was able to hold on to that momentum in the second half, scoring 40 points in the third quarter, entering the final frame with a 109-106 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Five fell victim to a short bench and ran out of steam, mustering only 12 points in the frame. In the end, the Hurricanes came away with the decisive 137-118 victory.

Halifax was led by Cliff Clinkscales who had a season high 27 points and a franchise record 19 assists. Halifax also got strong games from Antoine Mason (28 points) Joel Kindred (21 points, 10 rebounds) and CJ Washington (19 points, 10 rebounds).

The Five were led by an incredible offensive performance from Braylon Rayson who scored 41 points on 16-31 shooting on the night. Jaylen Bland and JR Holder chipped in with 22 points and 19 points respectively.

The Hurricanes would like to thank their game-day sponsor, Charm Diamond Centers, and remind fans that the Hurricanes next game will be Sunday, March 8th at 8pm in Kitchener-Waterloo against the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans. The Canes have defeated the Titans in both of their matchups so far this season.
