FIRE RETURNS TO WINNING WAYS... Last Saturday in Memphis the Fire got behind early but managed to fight back and defeat the Xplorers 70-63. The game was highlighted by another record-breaking night for the Fire. Matt Sauk threw a team record and league high 10 touchdown passes and had a team record of 24 completions. James Scott set four records with 14 receptions, 201 receiving yards, six touchdowns and tallied 36 of the Fire's 70 points. The Fire sits at 4-1 and in a virtual tie with Quad City (5-1) for first place in the Midwest Division. WE'RE BACK... After three consecutive road games the Fire finally returns home for a rematch with the Albany Conquest. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Terry Meiners bobblehead courtesy of PNC Bank. Starting at 3:00 p.m. there will be a kids Fire safety show courtesy of Home Depot near the season ticket holder lot in the back of Freedom Hall and a Fire truck show. You will also have a chance to sample chili made be local firefighters. Doors open at 6:00,but come early and get in on the fun in the parking lot. THE IRONMAN... Fire WR/DB Takuya Furutani was name US Army Ironman of the Week this week by the af2 office. Furutani saw action for the first time this season last Saturday in Memphis.
BOWL WITH THE FIRE... Every Thursday night for the rest of the 2004 season the Fire players and coaches will be at Ten Pin Bowling Lanes in St. Matthew's starting at 9:30 pm. If your team can beat the Fire's team you can win tickets to the next home game. Come and bowl against Coach Johnson and the rest of the Fire every Thursday night.
BUY YOU FAVORITE PLAYER'S JERSEY... After the game this Saturday the Fire will be auctioning off their jerseys. The players will be wearing special jerseys this week to commemorate the Crusade for Children. Right after the game in the end zone by the Jim Beam Party Zone you can bid on your favorite players jersey.
FIRE DROPS ONE SPOT... The Fire lost a spot in the latest coaches poll dropping to number five. Wichita (4-0) is ranked first and their opponent this week Quad City (5-1) is ranked second. Wilkes-Barre (4-1) is third and Tennessee Valley (4-1) is fourth.
