Saskatoon Blades News Release

We're down to the final four regular-season home games, and the intensity is ramping up ahead of the playoffs. It's been yet another memorable season at the Sasktel Centre full of tremendous support from our dedicated fans, but we have plenty more in store!

Kicking off the final four home-games has the Blades welcoming the Calgary Hitmen for a 7:00pm puck-drop this Wednesday. This is the first of two more Winning Wednesday matches left, with our final rendition taking place March 18th against the Regina Pats. If the Blades win, everyone at the game goes home with a free ticket to the next home game! Tickets are also buy one, get the second for $2, so be sure to bring a friend to the game and cheer on the Blades!

We're rolling out the red carpet this Friday, welcoming NHL back-up goaltender and kidney transplant recipient David Ayres to the Sasktel Centre for puck-drop against the Regina Pats. David received a kidney transplant in 2004 from his mother, which helped him live out his dream with the Carolina Hurricanes last month. The 42-year-old zamboni driver was called into action during a game in Toronto, and helped the 'Canes beat the Maple Leafs 4-2. This game will also feature specially-designed uniforms worn by the players for "The WHL Suits Up to Promote Organ Donation" presented by RE/MAX. All proceeds raised from this game will go towards the Kidney Foundation.

Our final regular-season game takes place March 21st against our closest rivals, the Prince Albert Raiders. This game will be our Fan Appreciation night and will also be featuring a pre-game Builders Banner presentation for Lorne Molleken. Lorne is one of the most successful coaches in franchise history, and one of just five WHL coaches to earn 500 career victories. Lorne will be on hand for the banner presentation, and reflect on his 12-year career with the organization.
