Frisco Fighters News Release
FRISCO - The way things are looking in the Indoor Football League's Eastern Division, there are the Fighters ... and then there's everyone else.
The fact that coach Billy Back thinks there's more to improve on should scare the rest of the league.
Following Saturday night's 50-27 home win over the Green Bay Blizzard, Frisco holds a 2.5-game lead at the top of the standings.
The Fighters (12-2) got the ball rolling early on by notching a safety, which was followed by a rushing surge by Ed Wesley less than a minute and a half later.
Jerminic Smith hauled in a pair of touchdown passes before Wesley punched it in once more during the initial half, helping to bring a 22-point lead over Green Bay (6-9) into the halftime break.
Blake Sims ran 21 yards for a touchdown in the first half and Edwards added a rushing strike and a third house call to Smith in the second. In dominating fashion, Frisco led by at least two possessions for the entirety of the final three frames.
Aiming to continue their fantastic fortunes, the Fighters - who haven't lost since April - bring in the Quad City Steamwheelers next Saturday night.
Frisco downed the Steamwheelers on April 16 by pinning up a franchise-high 68 points.
