The Story:

Despite Wednesday's result against NYCFC, the Lions clinched a playoff berth for the fourth consecutive year.

The Lions will host the Herons on Sunday for the first time since July 2022. The Lions have hosted the Herons five times throughout the Florida Derby's history. The South Florida based club has never recorded a winning result at Exploria Stadium.

The match will serve as the two sides' third encounter during the 2023 campaign. The first occurred during regular season play and resulted in a 3-1 victory for Orlando. The Florida clubs met for a second time during the Round of 32 in the Leagues Cup Tournament and saw the Herons take a 3-1 win, knocking the Lions out of the competition.

"We returned from New York and trying to get some corrections from the game, but we are still looking at the better things we did in that match also and keep going. I have to evaluate it, but the team has been playing very well and we have to keep going in that direction. Now we have a rival, we have [Inter] Miami in a very important game not just because it is a derby but because those points will get us closer to the objective that is to keep fighting for that first position or at least qualify in that first four.
