NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (December 30)- The Brahmas dropped a 3-1 lead Wednesday night against the Mudbugs at the NYTEX Sports Centre and left with just the sole point in the standings as they lost 4-3 in a game that necessitated the shootout.

It was the Mudbug's third shot of the night off the blade of Justin Aikins that found its way past Joe Palmer, to put the Brahmas in a one goal deficit. Eightminutes later Texas was ablestretch their powerplay goal streak to four games when forward Mark Kolanos netted his fourth goal of the season with :17 seconds remaining with the man advantage. Luke Sellars and James Hiebert were credited with the assists on the game tying tally.

Bossier forward Shawn Limpright placed his ‘Bugs in a tight spot when he was called for a high sticking double minor in the second, giving the hot Brahmas powerplay an extended opportunity to pick up their first lead of the night. Highly anticipated new forward, Nathan Perrrott put the Brahmas fans on their feet and another score on the board when he notched his first goal of the year in his first game of the season on the powerplay. The I-20 rivals played 4-on-4 hockey moments later, but just as Bossier's penalty expired Jordan Cameron beat Ken Carroll between the pipes for Texas' ninth shorthanded goal of the year, tied for the league lead.

Two consecutive penalties by Texas spelled trouble for the home team and ultimately proved to be costly when Jeff Kyrzakos put the ‘Bugs within one with the two man advantage. In the winding seconds of regulation Bossier yanked Carroll for the extra attacker and were able to convert with :49 remaining in the game. A scoreless overtime lead to the shootout where Mark Johnson earned the game winning goal for the ‘Bugs, snapping Texas' winning streak at home to six.

The Brahmas will conclude 2009 in Odessa when they face the Jackalopes tomorrow night for a 7:05 PM faceoff. All the New Year's Eve action can be caught on CHL TV. Texas returns to the NYTEX Sports Centre on Saturday when they revisit last season's Championship Finals against the Colorado Eagles. The Brahmas and Eagles have split the series 1-1 thus far this season. For tickets please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
