LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League will play their final game of 2009 Thursday night when they host Corpus Christi in their eighth annual Westwind Homes New Year's Eve Extravaganza. Game time is 7pm. The first 1,000 fans to enter the arena will receive a FREE Westwind Homes Party Horn! The Bucks enter New Year's Eve on a season-high five-game winless streak (0-3-2) thanks to Tuesday's 4-1 loss at Corpus. Laredo's five-game winless streak is their longest since they went winless in five games (0-4-1) from February 28th-March 10th of last season. The Bucks have not had a six-game winless streak since the 2004-05 season, when they went 0-5-1 from October 29-November 12, 2004.
Laredo's last win came against the Ice Rays on December 17th when they earned a 2-0 shutout win.
The Bucks have gone one-for-20 in their last three games on the power-play including one-for-seven in Tuesday's loss at Corpus.
Laredo and Corpus will meet Thursday for the fifth time in the month of December with the Bucks holding a 2-1-1 mark during that stretch.
The Bucks have had tremendous success in their history on New Year's Eve. The Bucks are 6-1 all-time at the LEC on Dec. 31st and have won six straight on the last day of the year. The Bucks have never hosted the Ice Rays on New Year's Eve.
After losing three of four games the Ice Rays have won two straight contests, both against the Bucks. The Ice Rays have not won three straight games all season long.
Thursday's game is the first of a three-in-three for the Ice Rays, as they will host Bossier on New Year's day before traveling to Odessa on Saturday.
The Bucks will play in Allen Saturday night (Jan 2) before hosting TexasSunday afternoon (Jan. 3) at the LEC.
