Texas Legends News Release

FRISCO, TX, (Nov. 6, 2014) - The NBA Development League's Texas Legends and the state of Chihuahua, Mexico have announced a historic partnership that will change the name of the Legends home court to Chihuahua Court, will include significant branding on the team's jerseys and will relocate the Legends training camp in Chihuahua.

The state of Chihuahua will be the presenting partner of the Legends. The team will play on "Chihuahua Court at Dr Pepper Arena" and the logo "Chihuahua Vive" will be displayed prominently at center court. Additionally, Chihuahua will receive significant visibility both in-arena and through the Legends media with prominent signage. Chihuahua also becomes the first state in Mexico to host a NBA D-League team's training camp as the Legends will visit Chihuahua from November 7 through November 10 as they prepare for the upcoming season.

"Over the past year, Eduardo Najera (Legends General Manager and Head Coach) and I have visited Chihuahua many times," commented Legends Owner Donnie Nelson. "I always depart extremely impressed with the culture, hospitality, the beauty of the landscape, and the vision of the Chihuahuan leadership to continue to grow basketball and other sports within the country. As Eduardo's home state, Chihuahua has a rich basketball tradition already, and we look to help grow and expand that tradition over the coming years."

The partnership has been designed to promote economic relations and tourism between the state of Chihuahua and the city of Frisco, as well as to expand the international reach of the Legends and the NBA D-League.

"We are very proud to announce this partnership," commented Secretary of Education, Sport, and Culture Luis Rivera. "The opportunity to partner with a franchise like the Legends will help grow basketball in Chihuahua, as well as expand our tourism reach. Eduardo's history with our great state make this partnership a natural fit as we build a bridge between Texas and Chihuahua supported by basketball, tourism, economy, and relationships."

Chihuahua will utilize the partnership to increase basketball relations and encourage active lifestyles throughout the state. The Legends will host basketball clinics and coaches clinics throughout the coming year - attended by Chihuahua basketball coaches and youth players of all levels.

"I cannot begin to express my gratitude to the people of Chihuahua for their long support", commented Legends General Manager and Head Coach Eduardo Najera. "Growing up, one of my goals was to be able to eventually give back to the country and the people, and this partnership is part of that. I look forward to growing tourism, sport, the economy, and tourism through this partnership. Chihuahua has remained a part of me throughout my career, and it will remain an important part of who I am in my post-playing career as well."

The Legends will host their home opener on the new "Chihuahua Court at Dr Pepper Arena" on Friday, Nov. 21st against the Santa Cruz Warriors at 7pm.
