Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 11)-The Texas Brahmas showcased their offensive talents Tuesday against Odessa as they scored a powerplay, shorthanded, even strength and empty net goal to win 4-1.
The first period was eventful; filled with a failed Odessa penalty shot, a shot that rattled Jackalope goaltender Alexandre Vincent knocking his mask off and a Brahmas goal. Grant Jacobsen took a feed from Scott Sheppard and Justin Kinnunen on the powerplay to put Texas up in the first.
A shorthanded goal and the ultimate game winner from Jordan Cameron in the second put Texas up 2-0.
The Jackalopes were able to break Texas' netminder David Cacciola at the 3:57 mark in the third but an even strength goal from Tyler Skworchinski killed Odessa's buzz minutes later. It was Skworchinski's 22nd goal of the season.
Brahmas bruiser Chris Thompson was able to get the crowd involved with a fight with Odessa's Mark Johnson in the third, but it was captain Blair Manning's empty net goal with only :03 remaining that put the fans on their feet.
The Brahmas 4-1 win helped to improve their standing in the Northeast division to second place. The Brahmas will hit the road this weekend for a battle against Bossier-Shreveport Friday and a match against Corpus Christi Saturday. Texas returns home Sunday evening at 6:05 PM for their last regular season home game at the NYTEX Sports Centre. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423.
