
Overtime Bites Scorpions In Arizona

[ PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz.]- Arizona came from behind in the third period and eventually beat the Scorpions in overtime 5-4. Tyler Liebel scored the game winner at the 1:45 mark of the extra frame.
New Mexico came out fast and got on the board first. Ray Ortiz fired a wrist shot past goalie Marco Emond, giving the Scorpions a 1-0 lead.
Arizona came back and scored two goals within 30 seconds. Alex Leavitt tied the game with a power play goal. A turnover inside the Scorpions' zone ended up on Mark Kolanos' stick and eventually inside the Scorps net.
The Scorpions rose to the occasion in the second period. Ross McCain found Konrad Reeder with a perfect, back door pass. Reeder's snap shot lit the lamp, tying the game at two.
The third period was a tale of two periods. The Scorpions went back in the lead when Kevin Harvey scored his eighth goal of the season. New Mexico got their first two goal lead of the game when Reeder deflected in his second goal of the contest.
Arizona used their power play to grab momentum back. Cory Urquhart made a nice move to cut the Scorps lead down to 4-3 at the 13:51 mark of the third period. Chris Bartolone then tied the game when he shot the puck through a screen and into the net four minutes later.
The Scorpions start a busy three-game in three-night stretch Friday in Colorado. Tune into 610 The Sports Animal to hear the game live or watch it free on the CHL Network starting at 6:05 p.m.
