19-11-2 on Road - New Franchise Record

The Youngstown SteelHounds went 2-0-1 in their final road trip of the regular season. The 19-11-2 road record is a franchise best and the 19 wins is atop the CHL. Friday night Mark Odut had a hat trick and an assist as the Hounds defeated the Rocky Mountain Rage 6-3. Saturday night Andy Franck set a franchise record with 49 saves but it was not enough as the Hounds fell to the Colorado Eagles 4-3 in a shootout. Sunday afternoon nine players scored at least one point and five scored as least two as the Hounds blanked the Wichita Thunder 6-0 in their final road game of the regular season. Kevin Beech made 21 saves pitching his second shutout as a Hound and fourth of the season.

What's on Tap: Buck Hunting Season

The Hounds begin a six game home stand to finish the regular season this Friday as the Laredo Bucks (39-17-3, 81 points) come to town for a three game set. The Bucks are the four time Southern Conference Champions and have an 11 point cushion for the first seed in the Southern Conference playoff picture. Youngstown defeated the Bucks 2-1 on November 10th in their only meeting of the year. These two teams have went in opposite directions when playing the other conference. The Hounds are 8-0-1 against the Southern Conference while Laredo is 4-5-0 against the Northern Conference. Friday night at 7:05 fans will receive the second set of Hounds trading cards courtesy of Pegasus Printing Group. Saturday night the Hounds will auction off their St. Patrick's Day jerseys after the 7:05 game. Sunday afternoon is a 4:05 start with all fans receiving Rick Nash "Rick Bands" and there will be an autograph session following the game. Couple of Nice Debuts

The Hounds welcomed back forward Brad Patterson over the weekend. Patterson, 27, returned to the Hounds after playing the majority of the season in England as a member of the Hull Stingrays. In 48 games with the EIHL franchise the native of Cranbrook, British Columbia recorded seven goals, 18 assists and 84 penalty minutes. He played for the SteelHounds in 2006-07 recording 13 goals and 28 assists in 59 games. The fifth year pro has played 182 of his 269 professional games in the Central Hockey League with New Mexico, Colorado and Wichita accumulating 33 goals and 72 assists. Sunday afternoon he recorded an assist. Tyler Wooddisse, 22, is a rookie defenseman from Brampton, Ontario. He started the season with the Twin City

Cyclones of the Southern Professional Hockey League recording five goals and 20 assists in 28 games before moving to the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL where in five games he recorded one assist. The rookie has a three game assist streak.

Franck up for Goaltender of the Year

The Central Hockey League announced yesterday the nominees for MVP, Most Outstanding Goaltender, Most Outstanding Defenseman and Rookie of the Year. The Hounds are very pleased to announce that Andy Franck has been nominated for Most Outstanding Goaltender. Franck, 26, in his first year as a Hound and the CHL is 21-10-4 with a 2.99 goals against average and a .902 save percentage. Earlier this season he was the starting goaltender for the Northern Conference in the 2008 CHL All Star Game and went 9-1-1 with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

Hounds will Serve Ice Cream at Dairy Queen this Thursday

Come meet the SteelHounds this Thursday night as they will be your servers at Dairy Queen (160 South High Street in Cortland, OH) from 6:00-9:00. Several Hounds including Head Coach Kevin Kaminski decorated ice cream-cakes which will be auctioned off. Fans can start bidding on those cakes now until 9:00pm Thursday. The Hounds will also be signing autographs and will be available for pictures.
