Texas Concludes Regular Season with Four Games this Week

Cedar Park, TX -The Texas Stars concluded their week with a 0-2-0-0 mark over two games this past week. Texas began the week with a 4-2 defeat on the road in Grand Rapids on Wednesday. Texas concluded its week with a 3-2 loss in Peoria on Thursday night.

This Week's Games

The Stars return home on Tuesday, April 10th for a 7:30 p.m. faceoff against the Chicago Wolves. Tuesday is also an H-E-B Night, where fans may bring any H-E-B non-perishable food item to the box office and receive $5 off their ticket price. The Stars close out the 2011-12 regular season with three games in three nights from April 13-15. Texas will play in San Antonio on Friday, April 13th at 7:00 p.m. The team returns home on Saturday, April 14th at 7:00 p.m. to host Oklahoma City. Saturday is also Fan Appreciation Night, presented by Bossy HD, where the Stars will hand out numerous prizes and giveaways to fans at the final home game of the regular season. Saturday night is also a State Farm Family Four Pack, where fans may purchase four hot dogs, four sodas and four tickets starting at $48. Texas will close out the regular season on the road in Houston on Sunday, April 15 at 5:35 p.m.

Texas 2 at Grand Rapids 4 4/4/12

The Texas Stars were defeated by the Grand Rapids Griffins 4-2 in front of 8,457 fans at Van Andel Arena on Tuesday. Griffins forward Joakim Andersson registered a hat trick and helped Grand Rapids stay in the playoff hunt with a two-goal win. Despite making 16 saves in the first period and finishing with 30 for the game, Texas goalie Jack Campbell suffered the defeat. Stars forwards Matt Fraser and Shawn Weller each scored, as the team fell to 13-21-0-1 on the road this season.

Texas 2 at Peoria 3 4/5/12

The Texas Stars were defeated by t he Peoria Rivermen 3-2 in front of 5,235 fans at Carver Arena on Thursday night. Rivermen forwards Patrick O'Sullivan and Adam Cracknell scored 2:22 apart midway through the third period to propel Peoria past Texas. Rivermen goalie Jake Allen stopped 32 of 34 Stars shots, as his club improved to 19-17-1-0 at home this season. Texas forward Matt Fraser extended his team recored for goals in a season, netting both Stars goals and pushing his total to 36 for the year. Texas goalie Jack Campbell took the loss with 35 saves on 38 shots.

Stars Superlatives...

Heading into the final week of the regular season, Texas right wing Matt Fraser leads the AHL with 36 goals scored in 69 games played for the Stars. Fraser leads Norfolk's Cory Conacher (35 in 72 games played) and Syracuse's Kyle Palmieri (33 in 48 games played) heading into the final week of action. His 36 goals are a Texas team record for most in a season. He has five goals in his last four games played... Also, Stars center Travis Morin is fourth overall in the AHL with a team-record 52 in 72 games played. Morin is eighth in the AHL with a team record 64 points.
