Texas Advances To Semifinals, Beat 'Rays 2-0

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 24)- The Brahmas sealed up the opening round series Wednesday evening in a sweep over the Corpus Christi IceRays in a 2-0 victory.
The Brahmas held their own advantage, the âNYTEX factor' in Game Two holding onto a remarkable 14-2 home record in the postseason in their barn. To improve their record Texas needed to play their top game against a tough Corpus Christi team, and a R.G. Flath hooking call kick started the Brahmas offense when Matt Pierce shelved his second postseason goal with :22 seconds remaining on the powerplay. Tyler Skworchinski gave the Brahmas the two goal edge when he took a feed from Jordan Cameron and Kevin Seibel at the 13:19 mark in the opening period.
It was a scoreless second thanks to a remarkable four minute powerplay killing effort by the purple and black who outshot the âRays on their own man advantage. In the end, it was all about the man in the mask for the Brahmas as Brett Jaeger was in playoff mode stopping all 28 shots faced earning his third postseason shutout and Texas' bid to face Odessa in the next round.
The Southern Conference Semifinals begins in Odessa Friday and Saturday night in the 2-2-1-1-1 series. The Brahmas will host Game Three in the series (home playoff game two) on Wednesday, March 31 at 7:05 PM at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
