Jackson, TN (June 2)- Micah Owings shutout the Diamond Jaxx offense over seven innings to lead the Tennessee Smokies to a 3-0 win over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx before a dissapointing Friday night crowd of just 1152 fans on a perfect night for baseball at Pringles Park.

Owings (6-2) held the Diamond Jaxx offense at bay, scattering six hits in his seven innings of work. Three relievers combined to pitch the final two innings with Doug Slaten getting the final two outs to nail down his third save of the season.

Tennessee got all three of their runs and five of their eight hits off losing pitcher J.R. Mathes (5-4) in the third inning. Jerry Gil, Jaime D'Antona and Jesus Cota drove in the Smokies three runs. With the win, the Smokies are back at .500 with a 28-28 record. The loss by the Diamond Jaxx dropes them 1.5 games behind Chattanooga, who defeated Montgomery at Bell South Park.
