Ten-Man Timbers Earn Point with 2-2 Draw Against LAFC at Providence Park

PORTLAND, Ore. - A 10-man Portland Timbers side played to a 2-2 draw against LAFC at Providence Park on Saturday afternoon. Felipe Mora struck early in the first half to put the Timbers ahead, but LAFC responded with an equalizer just 10 minutes later. Evander doubled the Timbers' score line not long after to send them into halftime with the lead. Just minutes into the second half, Portland goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau was whistled for a foul and given a straight red card, forcing the Timbers to play down a man. LAFC then leveled the match with a free-kick goal, leaving the two sides to split points.

Dynamic Duo

Evander recorded a goal and an assist in today's match, marking his third multi goal contribution performance this year. With four goals and three assists, Evander leads the team in goals and points (10). The 25-year-old Brazilian led the Timbers today in chances created (4), crosses (5) and duels won (10). Felipe Mora, who earned his first start of the 2024 campaign, scored his third goal of the season today, and the 28th of his regular-season career for Portland, surpassing Darlington Nagbe (27) for fourth most in club history. Evander and Mora have each scored in the Timbers' last three straight matches, marking the first time in club history two players have done so in the same stretch of games. It's also the first time a Portland player has scored in three consecutive matches since Dairon Asprilla did so in September of 2021.

Goal-Scoring Plays

POR - Felipe Mora (Evander), 11th minute: Juan Mosquera played the ball centrally for Evander, who then delivered the ball into the six-yard box. Felipe Mora ran into the area and flicked the ball into the back of the net.

LAFC - Mateusz Bogusz (Timothy Tillman), 21st minute: Timothy Tillman played a through ball into the box for Mateusz Bogusz, who took a touch and drilled a left-footed strike into the side netting of the goal.

POR - Evander (Juan Mosquera), 34th minute: From just outside of the 18-yard box, Juan Mosquera chipped the ball into the six-yard area. Evander settled the ball with his chest and fired a volley into the top of the net.

LAFC - Mateusz Bogusz, 51st minute: LAFC won a free kick at the top of the box. Mateusz Bogusz stepped up and curled a shot into the upper left corner of the goal.

Portland has scored 16 goals through eight matches this season.

The Timbers have scored multiple goals in six out of their eight matches this season.

Evander tallied his team-leading fourth goal today.

Felipe Mora scored his third goal of the campaign.
