Tom Craig netted his third goal in as many games and Jeff Teglia surrendered just one goal against for the second straight night as the Omaha Lancers skated past the Youngstown Phantoms 3-1 Saturday evening at the Covelli Centre.

With the win, the Lancers improved to 32-12-3 on the year and remain in sole possession atop the West Division standings with 67 points.

The loss extended Youngstown's home losing streak to seven consecutive games and is now the ninth time in the last 11 overall contests in which the Phantoms have mustered just a single goal offensively.

Youngstown grabbed the game's opening marker just past the midway point of period one when Brett Gensler spun free in the slot before wristing in his 13th goal of the season.

Cody Strang and Ben Paulides earned the two assists on the even strength marker netted 10:35 into the opening period of play.

Youngstown's Matt Mahalak preserved the one-goal advantage through the opening 20 minutes despite 15 Omaha shots in the period.

The Lancers, however, evened the contest early in period two when, while enjoying an early power play opportunity, Cam Wojtala won a goal line scramble in sending in his 6th goal of the season.

Troy Power and CJ Ludwig earned assists on Omaha's league-leading 60th man advantage marker of the year tallied 1:20 into the frame.

The game remained even through the majority of the second period until a defensive lapse at neutral ice by the Phantoms produced a 2-on-1 opportunity where Stefan Demopoulos threw a cross-ice pass to Tom Craig on the left wing who made no mistake in punching in his 6th goal of the season and third in as many games against Youngstown.

Ryan Daugherty grabbed the secondary assist on the five-on-five goal scored 17:20 into the period.

Omaha then grabbed a two-goal advantage late in the period when Seth Ambroz found a loose puck at the top of the goal crease before sending in his 18th marker of the year.

Greg Wolfe and Jeff Teglia assisted on the goal scored with just 12 seconds left in the frame.

The assist was Teglia's second in as many games.

Neither side found the back of the net in the final frame and scoring chances were at a premium as the two sides combined for just 10 shots on goal, including just four for Youngstown in the final 20 minutes.

Jeff Teglia earned his league-leading 25th victory in net improving to 25-10-2 on the year after turning aside 25 of Youngstown's 26 total shots.

Meanwhile, Matt Mahalak suffered the loss in goal for the Phantoms despite sending away 33 of Omaha 36 shots on goal.

The Lancers are back in action this coming Friday evening when they head to the IceBox in Lincoln to battle the Stars.
