November 21, 2015 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Des Moines Buccaneers News Release

The Des Moines Buccaneers and Team USA U18 were deadlocked in the third period but Team USA pulled away with three goals in the last ten minutes and came away with a 5-2 victory.

The first period saw plenty of action but neither goaltender would allow a goal in the opening stanza. Buccaneer Jan Ruzicka stopped all eleven shots he saw but was matched by Team USA's Jake Oettinger making eight saves. Des Moines had the only two man advantage opportunities in the first period but were unable to convert on either MidAmerican Energy Power Plays.

It was halfway through the game when a goal would finally be scored and Des Moines defenseman Nick Wolff took a pass from Alec Rauhauser and used traffic down the middle to screen the goaltender and get his first goal of the season at 12:36 of the period. Just over two minutes later Team USA struck twice in just over thirty seconds with goals by Nick Pastujov and Adam Fox to skate into the third with a 2-1 lead.

Chris Allemon scored his first goal of the season on a quick rush up the left wing side and a sharp angle shot that found the back of the net. Georgy Gorodetsky picked up the lone assist on the goal that would tie the game and keep it tied until halfway into the period. Clayton Keller scored unassisted at 10:30 and Will Lockwood sealed the win at 17:49. Kieffer Bellows adding an insurance goal after Ruzicka had been pulled and the empty-netter left the final score 5-2. Ruzicka made 38 saves for Des Moines, Oettinger picked up 28 in the win.

Des Moines' next game is Wednesday, November 25th, at home against the Sioux City Musketeers.
