New York Boulders News Release
(Ramapo, NY) - In an effort to attract baseball fans in Bergen County, New Jersey to attend Boulders games in Rockland County, New York, the Rockland Boulders will be changing their name and logo to the Bergen Boulders for one game only, Sunday, July 22 as part of Jersey Day. During the Rockland Boulders 2011 inaugural season, only 9% of the fans attending games were Bergen County, New Jersey residents.
"This is a strategic business decision to raise our profile in Bergen County, New Jersey with a minor league baseball promotional twist," said Ken Lehner, President of the Rockland Boulders. "We have consistently stated that in order for us to be successful we have to market regionally, especially to the one million people who live within 30 minutes of Provident Bank Park. Bergen County, New Jersey contains a large portion of those potential fans."
When the Boulders take the field against the Worcester Tornados on Sunday, July 22 at 5PM, the traditional Boulders word mark will be replaced by the word Bergen across the chest of the home white uniforms, which will feature the Boulders secondary B logo. Any reference to the team inside of Provident Bank Park will be to the Bergen Boulders. The local radio broadcast will refer to the team as the Bergen Boulders and limited Bergen Boulders merchandise will be available for sale in the team store.
Jersey Day will not only feature the Bergen Boulders, but enticing ticket offers will encourage all Boulders' fans regardless of where they reside to head to Provident Bank Park in Rockland County, New York. Jersey Day has a double meaning as not only New Jersey residents with a valid photo ID qualify for special offers - any fan can receive similar offers if they wear their favorite team jersey to Provident Bank Park. Fans favorite jerseys will cover the entire spectrum as the jerseys can be of any team from any sport at any level.
Jersey Day will be presented by three of the primary marketing partners of the Boulders that call New Jersey Home - the Ramsey Auto Group, The Record, and Kinchley's Tavern.
"We believe in the Boulders whether they are called the Rockland Boulders or the Bergen Boulders," said Todd Van Duren of Ramsey Chrysler Jeep Dodge. "We have customers on both sides of the state line and partnering with the Boulders has allowed us to connect with all of them."
"For the first time in the 75 year history of Kinchley's Tavern we are selling our pizza outside of our original New Jersey location," said George Margolis, owner of Kinchley's Tavern. "Sales to date at Provident Bank Park during Rockland Boulders games have been solid and we anticipate those numbers will continue to climb as we head into the heart of the Boulders season."
More information and details regarding the Bergen Boulders and Jersey Day will be released over the course of the next several weeks.
