New Jersey Jackals News Release

Grand Prairie AirHogs right-hander Josh Strawn was masterful over all nine innings, shutting out the Jackals en route to his fourth win of the season as the AirHogs evened the series with a 2-0 victory.

On a picture-perfect Saturday evening at Yogi Berra Stadium, Strawn struck out six and walked only one. The complete game is his second of the season, but first career shutout.

On the offensive side, Bryan Myrow hit his fifth solo home run of the year in the sixth. Trent Lockwood also added two RBIs.

The loss was in no means a reflection of Steve Fox's outing. Fox suffered his first loss amidst the longest outing of any Jackals' starting pitcher this season. He went seven-and-a-third innings, allowing two runs and seven hits while striking out three. He moves to 5-1 on the year.

The Jackals were only able to muster two hits against Strawn - a bloop single by Angle Berroa and an infield single by Matt Cusick.

The Jackals drop to 23-12, two games back of the first-place Quebec Capitales. The AirHogs improve to 23-11, three and a half games up in the South Division of the American Association.

The finale of the series will be played tomorrow at 2:05pm. For the Jackals, a win would not only be their 22nd of the season but their 700th franchise victory. Jon Kibler (4-1, 5.28) will take the mound for the home-side while John Brownell (5-1, 2.70) will go for the AirHogs.

The New Jersey Jackals, proud members of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, play their home games at Yogi Berra Stadium located on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls, NJ. 2012 single-game tickets, season tickets, mini-plans and group outings are available by calling 732-746-7434.
