Daytona Beach, FL - The Florida State League named Taylor Sparks the Player of the Week for May 23-29 on Tuesday afternoon. Sparks went 10-for-27 (.370) during the week with three home runs, eight RBI, and five runs scored. Five of his 10 hits went for extra bases.

Sparks becomes the second Tortuga to win the award this season, after Aristides Aquino did so at the end of April (April 25-May 1). For Sparks, it's the first time he has won the award in his two seasons with Daytona.

The week ended in grand fashion for Sparks, who went 3-for-5 Saturday in Dunedin with two home runs and three RBI. He followed that up by going 4-for-4 Sunday against the Blue Jays with another home run and three more RBI. For Sparks, it was his first multi-homer game of his career and the first time he has homered in back-to-back games since last August, which was also against Dunedin.

It was also the first time he has notched back-to-back three-hit games since that same series vs. Dunedin last August, which was also the last time the infielder had registered consecutive three RBI games.

It's the first time Daytona has had two players win the award in the same year since 2014, when Kyle Schwarber and Rock Shoulders also did it in a month span.

Yeudy Garcia, of Bradenton, won the Pitcher of the Week for the FSL.
