Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

In their first extra innings contest of the season, the Isotopes walked off over the Salt Lake Bees, 3-2, at Isotopes Park. Center fielder Raimel Tapia delivered the final blow, doubling home the game-winning run.

Tapia's walk-off double was his sixth of 2017, easily jumping out to the Pacific Coast League lead in that category, doubling in five of his last six hits. As of the end of today's ball game, the 23-year-old also leads the PCL in hits (11) and extra-base hits (6). His seven runs scored are second best in the league, while his 17 total bases are tied for third-best.

Isotopes starter Ryan Carpenter was brilliant on the mound. The southpaw allowed just one run on six hits over six innings on the mound. Carpenter struck out six and walked just one. He received a no-decision.

Following Carpenter on the mound for Albuquerque was right-hander German Marquez. In his season debut, Marquez allowed one run during his two innings of work.

Albuquerque native Austin House tossed the final two frames for the Isotopes, earning the win on the afternoon. House did not allow a baserunner.

Isotopes right fielder Mike Tauchman finished the day 0-for-4 at the plate, ending his hitting streak at 28 games. The streak was the longest in Isotopes history and was also the longest current hitting streak in Minor League Baseball. Tauchman started the streak on August 12 of last season.

The Isotopes will now hit the road for the first time in 2017, traveling to Reno for a four game series starting tomorrow before heading to Tacoma on Saturday. Albuquerque returns to Isotopes Park on Tuesday, April 18 to begin a homestand against the Aces and Rainiers. Jeff Hoffman (0-0, 7.20) will get the start for the Isotopes tomorrow evening. He will be opposed by the Aces Braden Shipley (1-0, 10.80). First pitch from Greater Nevada Field is set for 7:35 p.m.
