LAST NIGHT: The Tarpons kicked off the 2nd-Half with a 9-3 victory over the Hammerheads in the opener of a four-game series...Dom Thompson-Williams (1-for-4, HR, 2RBI, R) hit a go-ahead, 2-run homer in the 4th; his 12th HR (7th w/ Tampa)...Angel Aguilar (1-for-3, 3B, BB, R) tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Wendell Rijo (1-for-3, 2B, RBI, R) in the 5th...Hoy Jun Park (3-for-4, HR, BB, RBI, 3R, SB) homered in the 5th (his 5th HR) as part of his first three-hit game of the season...Brandon Wagner (3-for-4, HR, 4RBI, 2R) added a 2-run homer in the 5th (his 15th) and had a pair of RBI singles, tying a season-high with 4RBI...Donny Sands (1-for-4) made his season debut...RHP Albert Abreu (W, 3-2) earned his first win in four starts (5.0IP, 4H, 2ER, 1BB, 6K, HR)...LHP Phillip Diehl tallied 5K's in 2.0 perfect innings...RHP Matt Frawley (2.0IP, 4H, 1ER, 0BB, 3K) closed the game.

STRIKEOUT KINGS: Last night, Albert Abreu (6K), Phillip Diehl (5K) and Matt Frawley (3K) combined for 14 strikeouts. Tampa pitchers have tallied double-digit strikeouts in 29 games this season, with the Tarpons going 18-11 in such games. Tampa, by far, leads the Florida State League in strikeouts, totaling 676K entering tonight. That is 84K more than the team ranked second (Clearwater - 592K). Tampa is averaging 9.52 K-per-game and is on pace for 1,333K, which would crush its own FSL single-season strikeout record set last season with 1,215K.

BABY BOMBERS: Dom Thompson-Williams, Hoy Jun Park and Brandon Wagner all homered on Thursday, marking the eighth time this season Tampa has homered three-or-more times in a single game. The Tarpons are 9-4 in multi-homer games. Tampa currently leads the league with 61 home runs, which is seven more than second on the list (Bradenton - 54HR).

LET'S GO STREAKING: Isiah Gilliam (1-for-3, BB, R) singled in the 5th on Thursday, extending his hitting streak to 15 games. In that span, the 21-year-old is batting .361 (22-for-61) with 2HR and 9RBI. Gilliam's streak is the longest active hitting streak in the league.

HELLO, OLD FRIEND: Tonight, the Tarpons will face RHP Josh Roeder. Roeder, 25, was originally drafted by the Yankees in the 21st round in 2015 and played three seasons in the New York farm system, including five relief outings with the Tampa Yankees in 2017. After being released this past March, Roeder signed a contract with the Marlins and is now a starter with Jupiter. The Plano, Texas native started just one of his 54 games while in the Yankees system, going 4-3 with seven saves and a 3.46 ERA between short-season, Single-A Staten Island (47G), Tampa (5G) and GCL West (2G).

2ND-HALF BEGINS: Last night marked the beginning of the 2nd-Half of the Florida State League schedule. The Tarpons finished with an even 35-35 record at the half way point, falling 4.0GB of the 1st-Half Champion Daytona Tortugas (37-29). Meanwhile, the early postseason spot in the South Division was captured by the Palm Beach Cardinals (39-25). Tampa will look to win its second-straight 2nd-Half North Division title and return to the playoffs for the third-straight season.

VS. JUPITER: Tonight will be the second of eight scheduled games between the Tampa Tarpons and Jupiter Hammerheads. Tampa currently leads the season-series, 1-0. Last season, Tampa won the season-series over Jupiter, 6-2, including 2-2 at GMS Field and 4-0 at Roger Dean Stadium.

CASTILLO WINS ALL-STAR GAME MVP: Tampa's very own Diego Castillo was named the Bush's Best Most Valuable Player of the 2018 Florida State League All-Star Game on Saturday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Castillo started at 2B and finished 2-for-4 at the plate, including a go-ahead RBI double in the 2nd before adding a second double in the 4th. The North Division defeated the South Division for the third-straight season, winning 5-0. INF Brandon Wagner (0-for-3, BB, R) started at 1B and RHP Nick Green (1.0IP, 1K) started on the mound, tossing a 1-2-3 frame. RHP Adonis Rosa (1.0IP, 1H) and LHP Trevor Lane (0.1IP, 0H) contributed to the shutout.

FOR STARTERS: RHP Nick Green (5-2, 2.25) will make his 12th start of the season. Last time out, made a quality start and earned the win vs. Bradenton on 6/10 (6.0IP, 3H, 1ER, 2BB, 3K, HB, HR, 92P/62S)...currently ranks second in Florida State League in ERA and tied for fourth in opponent batting average (.225)...has made a quality start (6.0+ IP/3ER-or-less) in eight of his 11 starts this season.

2017: Went 8-9 with a 4.49 ERA (126.1IP, 131H, 74R/63ER, 39BB, 112K) in 26 starts with Single-A Charleston...held left-handed batters to a .201 (38-for-189) batting average...went 4-4 with a 2.77 ERA (65.0IP, 20ER) in 13 starts before the All-Star break...did not allow an earned run in three consecutive starts from 4/29-5/13 (20.2IP, 2R)

Personal: 23-years-old, 6-1, 175 - Fountain, Colorado...Acquired from Texas, along with RHPs Dillon Tate and Erik Swanson, in exchange for OF Carlos Beltrán and cash on 8/1/16...was originally selected by the Rangers in the seventh round in 2014 out of Indian Hills Community College...Played one season (2014) at Indian Hills Community College (Iowa), going 3-1 wit ha 2.97 ERA (36.1IP, 12ER)...graduated in 2013 from Fountain-Fort Carson H.S. (Colo.).
