Tampa Scores Early, Cruises to 6-2 Win over Miracle

TAMPA, Fla. (July 22, 2015) - The Tampa Yankees defeated the Fort Myers Miracle, 6-2, at Steinbrenner Field on Wednesday evening.

The Yankees sent eight to the plate in the first inning and plated three runs against Miracle starter Ryan Eades. After a double play recorded the first two outs, Dustin Fowler restarted the inning for the Yankees with a bloop single into center field. Eades (6-3) then walked Mike Ford to put two men on. In a 3-2 count, Dante Bichette, Jr. smoked a double into right center field to score Fowler and Ford. Miguel Andujar continued the frame by reaching on an infield single. With runners on the corners, Jake Skole roped a first pitch into center for an RBI single, 3-0.

In the third, the Miracle scratched across a run against Yankees starter Cale Coshow. Logan Wade bounced a ball up the middle for a base hit to start the frame. After Tanner Vavra flew out to right, Engelb Vielma slapped a single down the third base line. Wade advanced from first to third and Vielma moved to second on the throw. Ryan Walker then lifted a fly ball to medium range center field for the second out, but Wade tagged and scored from third, 3-1.

Jason Kanzler got the Miracle a second run in the fourth inning. Ripping a triple into the right center gap on a 1-1 pitch, Kanzler slid safely into third. Tyler Wade's cut-off throw from shallow right field sailed off the dugout railing and Kanzler was awarded home plate, 3-2.

Tampa put up another three-run inning off Eades in the sixth. Ford coaxed a walk to begin the inning then moved to third base on a single into right from Bichette, Jr. Andujar knocked in Ford with a single through the left side. Skole followed with his second RBI hit of the night and Kyle Higashioka drove in the third run of the inning on a ground out to third, 6-2.

Coshow went 4.2 innings in a no decision for the Yankees and was charged with two runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Giovanny Gallegos was the winning pitcher out of the bullpen. Gallegos (3-1) tossed 2.2 scoreless frames with three punch outs. Alex Smith recorded the final five outs for his ninth save of the season.

Eades went six and gave up six runs on nine hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Trevor Hildenberger made his Florida State League debut and tossed a pair of scoreless innings.
