The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed left wing Radek Smolenak to a standard three-year Entry Level contract, announced May 31st by Lightning Executive Vice President & General Manager Jay Feaster.
During his 2nd season in the Ontario Hockey League with the Kingston Frontenacs Radek Smolenak scored 42 goals and added 42 assists for an impressive +19 over 65 regular season games. He contributed 1 goal and 3 assists for the Frontenacs Vs Sudbury Wolves in the first round of the 2005/06 OHL Eastern Conference Quarter-Final.
Smolenak, selected by the Lightning in the third round, 73rd overall, at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, established himself as a top scorer in four seasons with Kladno of the Czech Junior Leagues. He also represented the Czech Republic at the 2004 World Under-18 Championships winning a Bronze Medal.
