
Tampa Bay Lightning Recall Angelidis and Witkowski, Reassign Taormina to Syracuse Crunch

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled forward Mike Angelidis and defenseman Luke Witkowski from the Syracuse Crunch today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced. Tampa Bay has also reassigned defenseman Matt Taormina to Syracuse.
Angelidis, 30, has appeared in 13 games with the Crunch this season, posting three assists and 19 penalty minutes. The Crunch captain ranks fourth on the team for penalty minutes. Angelidis has skated in 591 career AHL games, recording 119 goals and 248 points to go along with 1,231 penalty minutes.
The Woodbridge, Ontario, native has played in 10 career NHL games, all with the Lightning over parts of three seasons, registering one goal and 17 penalty minutes. Angelidis scored his first career NHL goal in his NHL debut on January 24, 2012, against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Amalie Arena.
Witkowski, 25, has skated in 13 games with the Crunch this season, recording four assists and six penalty minutes. The Holland, Michigan, native ranks second among Syracuse defensemen for assists. Witkowski has appeared in 141 career AHL games, all with the Crunch over four seasons, posting four goals and 24 points.
The 6-foot-2, 214-pound defenseman has appeared in 16 career NHL games, all with the Lightning last season. Witkowski made his NHL debut on January 20 against the Vancouver Canucks.
Taormina, 29, skated in the Lightning's 1-0 loss against the Florida Panthers Monday evening, his lone game with the Bolts this season. He has played in 10 games with the Crunch during the 2015-16 campaign, posting two goals and five points. He ranks second among Crunch defensemen for points. The Washington Township, Michigan, native also ranks tied for first on Syracuse with a plus-4 rating.
