Bunting, Mermis Recalled to Falcons

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons announced today that the Arizona Coyotes have recalled forward Michael Bunting to the Falcons from the Rapid City Rush, the club's ECHL affiliate. In a separate transaction, defenseman Dakota Mermis has also been recalled from the Rush to the Falcons.

The 20-year-old Bunting has skated in seven games with Rapid City this season amassing 2-0-2. The 6-foot, 191-pound native of Scarborough, ON played in 57 games last season with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL) and totalled 37-37-74 with 39 penalty minutes (PIM). Bunting was drafted by the Coyotes in the fourth round (117th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

The 21-year-old Mermis appeared in five games with the Rush this season amassing 1-2-3. The 6-foot, 187-pound native of Alton, IL finished last season by skating in 30 games with the Oshawa Generals (OHL) and totaling 5-14-19 with 50 PIM. Mermis began the 2014-15 season appearing in 36 games with the London Knights (OHL) collecting 1-10-11 with 36 PIM.
