Gallup Outlaws News Release
Gallup, NM. When Talons leading scorer Alvin Broussard was ejected from the game for picking up his second technical foul late in the second quarter, the Talons knew the scoring load would have to come from other places. One of those places came in the form of a 6'7" forward who has been Mr. Consistency all year, Bernard McIntosh, who has flown under the radar for the Talons with his double doubles night in and night out. He ended up with 31 points.
When Gallup began the second half without Broussard, McIntosh took control of the game for the Talons going for 23 second half points on route to 31 points for the game. In the third quarter, McIntosh scored more than half the Talons points as he went for 15 in the frame by using his versatility and power game down low to get to the basket and to the free throw line. The final score was 120-98 and marked the fifth time this season that the Talons have held an opponent under 100 points in a game which is a testament to their team defense as teams regularly score over 100 points in the ABA.
With the win, Gallup now moves to 15-1 on the season and remain undefeated at home behind the loyal and dedicated Talons fans. The team now travels to Tijuana to play two games in Mexico before coming home to play their toughest games of the year against the SoCal Legends on Monday and Tuesday at 7pm. SoCal is 15-2 on the season and ranked second in the ABA. They are led by Gary Grant, a former NBA standout with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Indiana Alley Cats lost their second games of the season so that the ABA's number one ranking could be up for grabs. The Talons will look to avenge their one point loss to SoCal several weeks back, the Talons only loss of the season. You will want to get tickets early for both games.
