Alaska Aces News Release

BOISE, Idaho - Julian Talbot scored to highlight Alaska's representation in a 6-3 National Conference loss at the 2007 ECHL All-Star Game before 4,371 Wednesday night at Qwest Arena.

Talbot took a pass from Idaho's Greg Rallo and buried a shot from the top of the crease at 6:18 of the third period to bring his team within 4-3 after the Nationals had fallen behind 4-1, but the American Conference scored twice in the final three and a half minutes to put the game away. Julian Talbot, a 21-year-old who entered the All-Star break tied with Aces teammate and fellow all-star Kevin Croxton for sixth among ECHL rookies with 26 points, joins his older brother, Joe, who had a goal and an assist as a rookie at the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game in Peoria, Ill.

Julian Talbot finished the game with five shots on goal while Croxton, playing on the same line, had two as the National Conference was out-shot 44-37. Tuesday night, Talbot hit three of four targets in the Accuracy event at the All-Star Skills Competition while Croxton participated in the puck control relay as the Nationals fell, 17-8.

As the regular season resumes Friday, Croxton remains tied for third among ECHL first-year players with 13 goals (Talbot has 12). Meanwhile, Talbot leads all rookies and ranks third in the ECHL behind teammates Matt Shasby and Vladimir Novak with a +18 rating.

The Aces (23-10-2), currently tied for first overall in the 25-team ECHL, open a three-games-in-three-nights road trip against the Long Beach Ice Dogs Friday at 6:30 p.m. AST before heading to Stockton for two games against the Thunder, Saturday at 6:30 p.m. AST and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. AST. The Aces return home for a three-game series against the Thunder beginning Wednesday, January 24.
