TACOMA, WASH. - Tacoma Defiance (8-9-6, 30 points) fell 1-0 to Sacramento Republic FC (7-9-8, 29 points) at Cheney Stadium Wednesday evening for just its second home loss of the season.
Sacramento scored the only goal of the match in the 78th minute when Kharlton Belmar played a ball into the area that found Dariusz Formella, who was able to tap it in for the game-winning goal.
With the loss, Tacoma sits in fifth place in the Pacific Division standings, tied on points with Oakland Roots SC and trailing in head-to-head goal differential, the second tiebreaker category.
Tacoma stays in the Pacific Northwest as it prepares to welcome Pacific Division-leading Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, September 25 (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
