TACOMA, WASH. - Tacoma Defiance (10-13-8, 38 points) defeated LA Galaxy II (11-7-13, 39 points) 3-2 at Cheney Stadium Sunday afternoon. With the result, Tacoma sits one point behind LA Galaxy II for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Pacific Division standings with one match left to play.

Tacoma got on the board early in the 10th minute when a looping ball by Marlon Vargas in the area found the feet of Ray Serrano who was able to fire a low shot across the face of the goal, beating goalkeeper Justin vom Steeg for the opener.

After a weather delay that lasted over an hour, Sam Adeniran doubled the lead for the home side when he launched a low shot from just outside the area into the bottom left corner of the net. Vargas tallied his second assist of the night on the goal.

LA pulled one back courtesy of Preston Judd when he found himself with the ball on the far side of the area, causing Tacoma goalkeeper Christian Herrera to come off his line. Judd was able to curl an effort around Herrera at a tough angle into the goal to cut the visitor's deficit in half.

Adeniran bagged his brace, and Vargas his third assist, in the 70th minute when Vargas flicked on a header that Adeniran found the end of and chipped it over the vom Steeg to go up 3-1.

LA answered back quickly when Judd bagged his second of the night when a lobbed through ball by Ferkranus beat Tacoma's back line, and Judd was able to sneak a ball in past Herrera to cut the home side's lead to one.

Tacoma now heads to Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, October 30 for its final regular season match of the year (7:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
