Match Preview:

Oakland Roots face back to back must-win games to end the season to have any chance to make the Playoffs. Roots will also need help from the opponents of LA Galaxy II in their final two games in order to jump into the fourth and final playoff spot. With LA sitting on 39 points they need just two points from their final two games to reach the playoffs as they hold the tiebreaker over Oakland Roots.

Oakland and San Diego have split their three game season series heading into this fourth and final matchup with Oakland Roots winning the most recent encounter 2-1 courtesy of a Johnny Rodriguez Goal of the Year candidate and a second half Jose Hernandez PK. Just one week prior to that 2-1 win, the two sides fought to a 0-0 draw and in the first match all the way back in June, San Diego escaped with a 1-0 victory from a late Miguel Ibarra goal.

Oakland Roots are coming off three consecutive games where they have been unable to find the back of the net, bringing it to 14 games total in which Oakland Roots have been shutout. Roots have three tied for the team lead in goals at four with Bokila, Mbumba and Wall. Roots will be without team leading creator Lindo Mfeka who has four assists on the season.

San Diego is coming off a 1-0 loss to Orange County on Wednesday night and are now just one point ahead of their SoCal rivals for the two seed in the Pacific Division and a home playoff spot. San Diego is led in attack by Tumi Moshobane who has 10 goals on the season and by former USMNT forward Miguel Ibarra.
