
Tacoma Defiance Drops 4-0 Decision at Phoenix Rising FC

TACOMA, WASH. - Tacoma Defiance (2-6-0, 6 points) on Saturday evening dropped a 4-0 decision at Phoenix Rising FC (2-1-4, 10 points). The match was the third in a stretch of five consecutive away contests for Tacoma. Junior Flemmings scored two goals and added one assist to lead Phoenix, while Jason Johnson and Solomon Asante each recorded one goal and one assist.
Flemmings tallied his first of the night in the 33rd minute on a blast from outside the box. He dribbled to his right before firing a shot with his right foot to the right corner of the goal past Tacoma goalkeeper Trey Muse to give Phoenix a 1-0 lead.
Johnson made it 2-0 when he finished a cross from Solomon Asante inside the six-yard box just three minutes later. Flemmings completed his brace just before halftime on a header off a cross from Johnson to make it 3-0.
Flemmings collected a loose ball right outside the box in the 53rd minute and found Asante who calmly finished past Muse to give Phoenix a 4-0 advantage.
Six players under the age of 20 saw action for Tacoma tonight, including one First Team player in Muse. Austin Brummett made his USL debut at the age of 15.
Tacoma Defiance continues its five-match road stretch on Friday, April 26 at San Antonio FC (5:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+). The club then travels to Oklahoma City to take on OKC Energy FC on Saturday, May 4 (5:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
