T-Bones Take Game Two 8-5 Over Fielders

July 27, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Lake County Fielders News Release

The Lake County Fielders (24-34) fell to the hard-hitting Kansas City T-Bones in the second game of the four-game set, 8-5.

Kansas City (39-21) jumped on the board in the top of the second when Ryan Fox hit a three-run home run after John Brownell issued two consecutive walks to Jim Fasano and Brian Joynt.

Lake County answered back with two runs on two hits in their half of the second. Kyle Higgins ripped an RBI triple down the right field line to score Adam Hale who reached on a single and advanced on a Cody McAllister wild pitch. Higgins was brought around on an RBI groundout from catcher Anthony Esquer to bring the score to 3-2.

The T-Bones tacked another run on the board off a Ryan Fox sac fly to center. But the Fielders tied it up quickly in the bottom of the fourth. Brian McFall brought Josh Short around on an RBI double and Adam Hale came up with an RBI double to score McFall, knotting the game at four.

Kansas City added two runs in the fourth after Jacob Blackwood singled to score Jimmy Mojica, chasing Brownell (2-5) from the game. Brownell threw for 3.1 innings, scattering six runs (six earned) on seven hits while striking out two and walking three to take the loss.

Fox lead off the fifth inning with his second home run of the game, his 13th of the year, putting the T-Bones three runs ahead of the Fielders. Josh Short brought the Fielders within two in the eighth with a solo, leadoff homerun; his 17th of the season, but that's as close as the Fielders would get.

T-Bones starter Cody McAllister (8-3) got the win, throwing 7.0 innings, giving up six hits, four runs (all earned), striking out five and walking three.

The two teams will face each other for game three at noon tomorrow in Zion. Lake County will send Garry Bakker (2-6, 5.10) to the mound opposite LHP Ryan Knippschild (7-4, 4.38).
